Revelation

10 February 2013 No Comment

I went to a cafe church in a coffee shop this week and took a handful of 11-14 year olds.

Someone stood up to say a few words- they were 18 and broke every rule in the preaching manual (the preaching manual is a black, leather bound, very dull and often very angry book). What she said really hit me- a few days later in a school, a 15 year old asked me to give him and example of ‘revelation’: I told him about what this person had said and how I felt that God had spoken to me.

This was one of the passages she used, although in a slightly different version (‘The Message’):-

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the centre of your life.

It is great when you stop trying to think you are an expert and begin to listen. I hope that will be your experience today.
