Random rambles from a village minister:1
So I was in this school ready to do an assembly. I love doing assemblies and schools work: often I think ‘Wow, I get paid for this’.

The teacher was showing me the new ‘collective worship’ area. In the middle of that refurbished area was a sweeping brush. ‘I’d better get rid of that’ she said.
I asked for it to stay there and improvised an assembly about John the Baptist making the way clear and preparing for Christmas. And then the brush was put away.
Pity: I would have preferred for it to stay there. The whole Christmas story is about ordinary stuff and ordinary people being used. It doesn’t have very much to say about holy and pristine places or everything in it’s proper position….
