Break a leg darling…

bad actor

Last night- first rehearsal for a murder mystery play for my local Am Dram society (please note: I do not spend all my time acting, listening to music, going to the pub etc…just most of the time).

Am Dram has become so big that we are like Chelsea FC: we operate a squad system. This means that the lesser lights (ie me) get their chance to spread their dull glow. I’m on a winner with this one: normally my role is to appear less cardboard than the scenery. As this production is taking place in a local gourmet pub, there is no scenery.

Something of a record happened; at first rhearsal I knew some of my lines and I occasionally got them in the right place. In my last role I played a philandering working class chef on the take. In this I play a gay 20 year old painter. As I can act the whole range of emotions from..erm… A to B, this is going to be a challenge.

Oh the pains of being incarnational in a small village….

I applaud you! We should all put ourselves in the shoes (figuratively) of those we tend to criticize. It might make us a bit more compassionate and a little less judgmental.
