Happy birthday to me…ish…

birthday

Well to this blog….. one year on (Jan 16th) on wordpress and 30,000 ish hits later (ok- numbers are important to me)….. although I had a few months on blogspot before.

A few days ago, Tallskinnykiwi (see links) talked about ‘why blog’ and said_

‘Blog your whole experience and not just your polished thoughts’.

I feel I am doing that- some stuff I am proud of- other stuff I think ‘yeeuk!’- but that was me at the time. I do not read blogs that are shiny and squeaky clean and steer clear of the minutae.

Naked pastor gave 10 really good suggestions for blooging pastors http://www.nakedpastor.com/archives/4504 - this is my fave bit and why I try to blog:-

  • Originality: There are tons of blogs out there all saying the same things, quoting the same scriptures, repeating the same clichés. Although you may wish to remain rooted in your tradition, be original and creative in your thoughts and your articulation of them.
  • Perhaps I should be like the Queen and have an official birthday and a real birthday: a blog birthday and a real birthday.

Thanks once again for reading my offerings.

Now here is some irrelevant minutae:-

My favourite quote of last week. I was listening to local radio to see if any schools were closed. They were talking about John Lennon and one presenter said that he had ‘those…you know…Jesus glasses’. For once I lost the power of reason, speech and thought. Can you even work out what the presenter was going on about- ‘cos I can’t.

Jesus eyes? …mmm…I wonder …seeing the world in a new light, through the eys of Jesus who showed a different perspective on the world, valueing individuals with an awareness of God’s presence….fascinating statement though.

Have you seen this web site – for a different perspective…

Happy birthday, anniversary, cycle completed! May you continue to find it rewarding, ministering to yourself, for so I find it with me that what comes forth is also part of Him “in” me, a joint project wherein it somehow is therapy to me. That doesn’t mean, of course, that it all has to be something “from the Book”. I enjoy my visits here, every one. Thanks for the fellowship……

re: the glasses. Perhaps the presenter was confusing Jesus with Gandhi? Easy mistake to …?!!
